My Major Accomplishments

I have worked hard for the past 4 years as your councilmember for District 5. I'm running to be re-elected and I hope I have earned your vote.

  • Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) board of directors (2022-present)

  • VTA Congestion Mangement Program and Planning Committee (2022-present, incl Vice Chair 2023)

  • VTA BART-SV Extension Oversight Committee (2023-present)

  • Capitol Corridor JPA board of directors (2022-present)

  • Northern California Power Agency (NCPA) board of directors (2021-present)

  • BCDC Bay Adapt Local Electeds Regional Task Force (2023-present)

  • City of Santa Clara Audit Committee (2021-present)

Key Accomplishments

  • Created and ran campaign to get Business License Tax Measure H passed in Nov 2022

  • Worked to erase budget deficit in our general fund (-$14.6M in FY2022 to -0.9M in 2024)*

  • Key advocate for Santa Clara’s first Community Garden at Eddie Souza Park

  • Created Homeless Task Force in 2021 to study homelessness

  • Added intermediate target of 80% CO2 emissions reductions in Climate Action Plan by 2035

  • Increased secure bicycle parking ratios with charging in multifamily housing developments

  • Was key driver on effort to sell 10,000 acre Loyalton property in Lassen/Sierra counties

  • Added requirement of 100% carbon free renewable power for new data centers (2021)

  • Got VTA to redesign Santa Clara BART station with at-grade concourse, saving $75M

  • Voted to allow 5 weeknight concerts at Levi’s Stadium (ending the ban and generating millions of dollars)

  • Voted on 4 settlements with 49ers, generating $20 million to Gen.Fund in 2025 and 2026

  • Funded a community room for the Santa Clara lawn bowling club

  • Pushed to establish the Station Area Task Force to plan development at the train station

  • Pushed to get City to hire a fulltime Sustainability Manager Feb, 2020

  • Pushed for live Streaming of Planning Commission meetings which started July 2016

  • Made it much easier to get permits for live music in Santa Clara restaurants

  • Main advocate for improved geotechnical modeling at NCPA’s Geothermal power plant

  • Increased transparency by requiring 2 year automatic retention of City emails

  • Held 22 open community meetings for Santa Clara residents
