EDUCATION

Schools and education in Santa Clara are managed by the Santa Clara Unified School District (SCUSD) which has its own budget.

Santa Clara City Council has little influence over the schools and education but there are many areas where we can collaborate better.  We currently share the theaters at our two high schools. We also share some ball fields but I believe we can do more.

My son attended Washington Open Elementary and Santa Clara High School.

With BS and MS degrees from MIT, I'm a huge advocate for more of our students to enter STEM fields.  That is why I cofounded and still coach the robotics team at Wilcox High School.

I also volunteer teach a weekly class on Climate Change science at Discovery Charter School in San Jose. I am in my 9th year now.

I have been at many school board meetings to advocate for teaching AP Environmental Science at Santa Clara High School.

I have for many years been a judge at Santa Clara Unified's Science Expo. 

​

I have also attended many school site committee meetings at SCHS and many SCUSD budget committee meetings.
