As in 2020, I am again running as a special interest free candidate in this race. I am refusing all money from Corporations, Businesses, Unions and PACs as I did in 2020. I am not happy about the amount of independent expenditure money in Santa Clara campaigns.

ABOUT ME

Putting My Experience to Work

Lori and I have lived in a historic home in the Old Quad since 1998. We love the character of this neighborhood and most of our neighbors.

I first got involved with the City when I walked precincts to oppose Levi's Stadium (Measure J). I got more involved when I saw how weak our Climate Action plan was in 2013. That prompted me to apply to be on the Planning Commission. I served on the Planning commission for 5 years and then on City Council for almost 4 years.

I have made a significant difference to make our City a better place to live. I got elected during a pandemic which caused large budget deficits due to lost hotel and sales tax revenue. We have now essentially erased the budget deficit and we were able to rebuild some of our reserves. I championed the Business License Tax in 2022 which is expected to bring in $6 million per year. I voted to remove the 10 PM curfew on weekday events at Levi's Stadium which allowed Beyonce and the Rolling Stones to perform there, making millions in profits for the City.

I have very diligently represented the City on the boards of the VTA, Northern California Power Agency (NCPA) and the Capitol Corridor JPA (San Jose-Sacramento Amtrak train).

"I endorse Suds because he is passionate about the environment, homelessness, and public transit. He cares about our students, having coached the Wilcox Robotics team for over 10 years" -- Santa Clara County Supervisor Otto Lee.

“I have enjoyed working with Suds on the VTA board as well as on the Reid Hillview lead pollution issue. He is prepared and diligent” -- Santa Clara County Supervisor Cindy Chavez
